Arrival

Please remember to cross at the marked cross walk at the front of the school. Staff supervision of students begins at 7:40 a.m. when gates open. For safety reasons, no students are to arrive at school before 7:40 a.m. and be left unattended.

Student Drop Off

The parking spaces in front of the school are reserved for STAFF ONLY.  The north and south parking lot gates will be locked between the hours of 7:30 a.m. and 8:00 a.m. to keep the driveway clear of traffic as children arrive at school.

Be aware of posted signs for vehicles indicating NO left turns before and after school at Westonhill Drive and Arcturus Street. Adults delivering children to school should leave them on the blacktop at their designated classroom line-up area.

Kindergarten: Drop off for Kindergarten supervision begins after 7:40am.
Grades 1-5: There is NO Supervision provided for students in the parking lot.

Bicycles

The San Diego Police Department requests that only students in grades four and above ride bicycles to school. Although the school has designated an area on the primary playground for students to park bicycles, the San Diego Unified School District is not responsible for theft, damage, or loss of use to any bicycle, equipment or article left in or around this area. All such risk is assumed by the student.

Helmets are required by California law. Students not wearing helmets may lose the privilege of parking a bike on school grounds. As defined in Vehicle Code Section 21212, any person under 18 years of age must wear a properly fitted and fastened helmet when riding a bicycle, scooter, skateboard, or when wearing in-line or roller skates. Helmets must also meet the standards of either the American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM) or the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC).

Parking

Dismissal

Students are dismissed promptly at 2:05 p.m. (12:15 p.m. on Thursdays) and should leave campus immediately upon dismissal unless participating in a childcare program. Students who ride the bus to and from school will leave shortly after dismissal. There is NO SUPERVISION after school for students please arrive on time.

Student Pick Up

Please meet your child at your designated spot. The front curb is painted green to indicate 15-minute stopping and white for 3-minute stopping. Signs are posted to assist you. Cars are not to enter the parking lot at any time between the hours of 7:30 a.m. and 8:00 p.m. Please ensure the safety of all students by not parking in the bus loading area and/or asking your child(ren) to cross the street without safety patrol present. The school's main concern is for the health and safety of your children.

Specific dismissal procedures vary by grade level, as indicated below:

The schedule below is not occurring during COVID protocol
Kindergarten: Students are dismissed from the classroom area by their teacher upon seeing a responsible adult or older sibling. Older siblings must come to the Kindergarten yard to pick up younger siblings.
Grades 1-3: Teachers dismiss students from their classroom. All students must be picked up at their classroom whether they walk home with an older sibling or are picked up by an adult.
Grades 4-6: Teachers dismiss students from the classroom and they are to leave campus via the front or side entrances. If they are responsible for a younger student, they must go to the classroom to pick them up and then promptly head home.
Klassic Kids Extended Day Program Students: All Klassic Kids program students are dismissed from their classrooms and sent to the Klassic Kids bungalow for check in. Kindergarten and first grade students are picked up at their classrooms by a Klassic Kid staff member.
Bus Students: All buses park in the loading/unloading zone at the front of the school. All bus students and space-available riders will line up at the curb by the appropriate route sign and wait to be called to their bus by a staff member.
Visitors:

When visiting the school campus, please first stop in the main office to sign the visitor's log and obtain a visitor's badge. You will need a government issued ID for entering campus or picking up a child.

To pick up a child from school, an individual must be an adult listed on the student's enrollment card and able to prove his/her identity with a picture ID. These procedures help maintain a safe campus for all and are required by state law as well as by district policy.

Classroom Visits: Parents are welcome to visit their child's classroom. Please make arrangements with the teacher at least one day prior to your visit. This enables the teacher to assist you in seeing the subjects of interest to you.
